The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) is warning clinicians about an email scam involving a sender posing as an IDFPR official.
What to look for
The scam targets clinicians and often:
Uses fake emails that appear to come from IDFPR staff.
Claims you have unsigned documents to review and return.
Asks for a reply to the message to confirm receipt and prompts you to click on a link to send secure files.
What you should do If you receive an email like this:
Use the buttons provided in your Outlook email application to report suspicious email that comes to your nm.org email address. Phishing reports are sent immediately to the NMIS Cyber Security team for review.
