December 2025 Update Epic Secure Chat, originally scheduled to go live in January, has been delayed due to ongoing testing efforts related to the larger Unified Clinical Communications solution at Palos Hospital. We will share more information regarding change management activities and training needs as they become available.
In the coming months, Northwestern Medicine will begin launching Unified Clinical Communications (UCC), Epic’s integrated communication platform. When fully launched, physicians, nurses and other clinical staff across the system will be able to send secure instant messages, place calls and see real-time notifications from the same mobile devices and workstations they use to provide patient care.
Palos Hospital will be the first NM site to use UCC.
The platform will continue to roll out by hospital over the next few years.
Northwestern Memorial Hospital is tentatively planned to go live after Palos.
