A shorter, more modern patient survey has been rolled out successfully across Northwestern Medicine hospital-based areas, including ambulatory surgery, emergency departments, outpatient departments and inpatient areas, during FY21. This is the second year of the Key Initiative. In FY20, the survey was launched for Northwestern Medical Group and Regional Medical Group outpatient clinics. Physician and employee engagement surveys also have moved to the same platform.
The project involved collaboration among operational and clinical departments, Nursing leaders, Project Management, Engagement, Communications and Information Services, specifically the Analytics team. “A combined effort across the health system has been key to the successful roll-out of the new survey,” says Stratis Bahaveolos, vice president of Engagement. “We are now able to offer our patients a faster, more convenient way to provide feedback about their care.”
In FY22, the survey will launch at Palos Hospital, including Ambulatory Surgery, the Emergency Department, hospital-based outpatient areas and inpatient Behavioral Health. RMG South Region offices will adopt the shorter survey at the start of the new fiscal year. Palos Hospital inpatient acute-care departments will transition to the survey in alignment with the conversion of Epic to the NM platform in FY23.
