NM Hospitals Achieve National, Regional and State Recognition in U.S. News & World Report Rankings

Northwestern Medicine hospitals have again achieved regional, state and national recognition in the U.S. News & World Report America’s Best Hospitals rankings.
Seven NM hospitals received recognition, either through regional, state or national rankings, or by offering one or more high-performing specialties.
Northwestern Memorial Hospital has again earned Honor Roll status, being ranked No. 10 in the nation and No. 1 in the Chicago Metro Region and Illinois. This is the 10th consecutive year that NMH has been ranked as the top hospital in Illinois.
Central DuPage Hospital is ranked No. 10 in the Chicago Metro Region and No. 10 in Illinois.
Lake Forest Hospital is ranked No. 13 in the Chicago Metro Region and No. 15 in Illinois.
McHenry Hospital, Huntley Hospital and Woodstock Hospital are ranked together at No. 14 in the Chicago Metro Region and No. 16 in Illinois. The three Northwest Region hospitals provide data under a single Medicare ID number and are thus share a ranking. The hospitals jumped seven spots from the 2020 ranking of No. 23 in Illinois and five spots from the 2020 ranking of No. 19 in the Chicago Metro Region.
Delnor Hospital is ranked No. 17 in the Chicago Metro Region and No. 19 in Illinois.
Specialty rankings Several NM specialties improved their national rankings.
NMH has four specialties ranked in the top 10 in the country:
Cancer (No. 6)
Geriatrics (No. 8)
Gastroenterology and GI Surgery (No. 9)
Neurology and Neurosurgery (No. 9)
NMH has six additional specialties nationally ranked:
Urology (No. 11)
Cardiology and Heart Surgery (No. 12)
Pulmonology and Lung Surgery (No. 14)
Orthopaedics (No. 19)
Diabetes and Endocrinology (No. 27)
Ear, Nose and Throat (No. 48)
LFH earned national ranking in Pulmonary and Lung Surgery (No. 36).
