Vocera Fix Improves Device Battery Life

Vocera Collaboration Suite, the secure physician texting application, was recently updated with an enhancement to improve battery performance while running the app. Vocera enables providers to securely communicate and collaborate in real-time using personal mobile devices. Designed to improve collaboration across all regions, the new platform features secure texting and communication of patient information on and off Northwestern Medicine campuses, as well as a searchable physician directory, message forwarding, image attachment capabilities and the ability to view physician availability.

“I had a great experience using Vocera to communicate with my physician assistant. We coordinated potassium replacement for one patient. I usually defer to the PAs for potassium replacement on their patients, but one patient had a very low potassium level. It was more efficient and safer for me to order while in the chart.   • Select the “McGaw Medical Center” site to search for residents and fellows
  • While onsite at a Northwestern Medicine location, connect to the NM Mobile Wi-Fi network

At least 1 in 4 women reports discomfort and a negative impact on her quality of life from a pelvic floor disorder, including pelvic organ prolapse, urinary tract symptoms or incontinence, and fecal incontinence.

Moreover, nearly 1 in 5 women will undergo surgery for a pelvic floor disorder with a 30 percent risk of needing repeat surgery. With the increased prevalence of pelvic floor disorders with aging, treatment for women with these disorders is expected to increase by 40 percent over the next 40-years—from 28 million in 2010 to 43 million in 2050.

The Women's Integrated Pelvic Health Program provides a unique opportunity to deliver comprehensive health care for women with pelvic floor disorders from a range of specialists, including Urogynecologists, Urologists, Colorectal Surgeons, and Physical therapists.

Our internationally renowned faculty members are among the first specialists recognized by the American Boards of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Urology in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery and provide comprehensive clinical care and minimally invasive surgical treatments for pelvic floor disorders, childbirth injury, complications from gynecologic surgery (fistulas), and congenital genitourinary disorders.

We offer comprehensive evaluation and treatment at three fully equipped clinical sites: Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Lake Forest Hospital, and Central DuPage Hospital.
