Northwestern Medicine Among America’s Best Hospitals

Northwestern Medicine hospitals have again achieved regional, state and national recognition in the U.S. News & World Report America’s Best Hospitals rankings.
 
System Rankings
Eight NM hospitals received recognition, either through regional, state or national rankings, or by offering one or more high-performing specialties.
 

• Northwestern Memorial Hospital has again earned Honor Roll status, ranked No. 10 in the nation, and is No. 1 in the Chicago Metro Region and Illinois. This is the 9th consecutive year that NMH has been ranked as the top hospital in Illinois.
• Central DuPage Hospital is ranked No. 8 in the Chicago Metro Region and No. 8 in Illinois.
• Lake Forest Hospital is ranked No. 9 in the Chicago Metro Region and No. 9 in Illinois.
• McHenry Hospital, Huntley Hospital and Woodstock Hospital are ranked No. 19 in the Chicago Metro Region and No. 23 in Illinois. The three Northwest Region hospitals, which provide data under a single Medicare ID number and are thus ranked together, jumped two spots from the 2019 ranking of No. 25 in Illinois.

 
Specialty Rankings
Several NM specialties improved their national rankings, including:
 

• Cancer, Geriatrics and Nephrology at NMH achieved their highest ranks ever this year.
• Pulmonology at NMH ranked in the top 15 for the first time since 2013.
• Gastroenterology at NMH is ranked No. 12, which is its highest since 2014.
• After being ineligible for the ranking in 2019, Lake Forest Hospital has earned national rankings in two specialties: Orthopaedics (No. 38) and Pulmonary and Lung Surgery (No. 40).

 
While four NM hospitals are not eligible for regional, state or national rankings (Delnor Hospital, Kishwaukee Hospital, Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital and Valley West Hospital), both Delnor and Kishwaukee received recognition for high performance in a specialty.
