​NMHC and Centegra: Putting Patients First

The affiliation between Northwestern Memorial HealthCare (NMHC) and the legacy Centegra Health System in McHenry County became official on September 1. This new relationship will allow Northwestern Medicine to expand into the far northwest suburbs, and increase patient access to 10 hospitals and more than 150 locations spanning nine Illinois counties.

The three-hospital health system is the largest employer in McHenry County, and includes Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital, Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital and Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital, a new acute-care facility that opened its doors August 9. The system also has more than 20 ambulatory care locations, over 600 on-staff physicians, and an aligned physician group that includes more than 250 physicians and allied health professionals.

U.S. News & World Report ranked McHenry Hospital as No. 18 among the Best Hospitals in Chicago and No. 23 in Illinois. The hospital was high performing in for its treatment of heart failure, knee replacement and pulmonary disease, and Woodstock Hospital received the highest rating for its treatment of heart failure. Having achieved systemwide Magnet® designation and recognition as a Top Quintile Health System by Truven Health Analytics in the small health system category, the legacy Centegra Health System shares Northwestern Medicine’s commitment to clinical excellence and a Patients First mission.
